First and Last Name
Michelle Saberton

Where ya from originally?

How long have you been with CrossFit Las Vegas?
9 months

What’s your favorite WOD?
anything that doesn’t have box jumps :)

What’s your least favorite WOD?
anything that has box jumps in it 😉

What were you doing before CrossFit?  How did you hear about CrossFit and/or CrossFit Las Vegas?
I was going to LVAC, taking step classes and body pump classes.  Heather, Jason, Neil, Marisa and Tim all joined and I didn’t want to feel left out. They were all talking about how great it was and had even dragged me to share the pain a few times.  I guess I’m a glutton for punishment because I thought I was going to die after that first share the pain and I joined anyways.

Give us some insight as to your thoughts after your first workout at CrossFit Las Vegas.
I thought it was the hardest thing I had ever done and swore I would never try again.  But I saw the results that my friends were getting and just had to try it.

Tell us a little about then vs. now with regard to your performances on a couple of the benchmark WODs, ie Fran or Cindy.
I’ve only done Angie, Cindy and Diane…but out of those three Diane was my favorite, handstand pushups and deadlifts are two of my favorite things to do :)

Do you have any special or favorite CrossFit Las Vegas memories/moments?
I have had such a great time over the last 9 months…from sanding rings for HOURS setting up the new new location, making hundreds of bacon wrapped dates for the grand opening, sunday open gym followed by brunch, too many memories to count.  Most of all, I love all of the great friends that I have made.  As hard as the work outs are, always knowing that someone is there to cheer me on makes CFLV a very special place to belong to.

What advice would you give to a newbie or someone just joining CrossFit Las Vegas?
I’ll give the advice that was given to me,,,”It’s hard. It sucks in fact and it never really gets easier, it just sucks less.”  Keep coming, you will see results.  Don’t give up, it takes time and dedication to see results.  You will get out of it what you put into. And last, but certainly not least, HAVE FUN!!!  I may not be the strongest or fittest member, but I always have fun and it has made all the difference.

And finally (and most importantly) Who is the best and most incredible coach at CrossFit Las Vegas?  Explain/defend your answer.
What a horrible question to ask….I think our coaches are ALL incredible. I don’t think I could have stuck it out this long without a little bit of what each of them bring to the table. Vili was the coach I worked with the most during elements. He has such a good nature and was so patient with me while still giving me a swift kick in the butt when I needed it. Mikey has been so great at pushing me beyond my comfort zone and helping me build up my confidence and get out of my head. I appreciate him for not letting me give up…even when I really want to. Marissa, has the heart of an angel. I have no idea how she puts up with all of those crazy crossfit kids :) Dez…I want to be Dezirae when I grow up. I admire how strong she is and she doesn’t take this whole thing too seriously. And then there’s Joe… he has a crazy sense of humor and you can tell that he truly cares about each and every member of the gym.

Love your profile! You were one of the first people who befriended me at the old location.. You took time to show me a few things around the gym even though you were kind of new too. You’re awesome Michelle ????

That was supposed to be a smiley face.. Not question marks! Lol

Michelle, I am also glad that you wanted more pain and decided to join!! You are always so much fun to have class with and so motivating. I am super guilty of being a class-and-dash CrossFitter, and it’s members like you who remind me to slow down, motivate others, and make an effort to be a part of this amazing community we have. You rock!!!

Oh, how I felt bad for you everytime we would go out (before you joined CFLV) and you had to endure all the CrossFit talk. LoL! We are very fortunate to have you as part of our gym. Your dedication to your health & fitness…always pushing yourself to improve. You have dedicated a lot of hours to support the gym from setting up the gym when we moved locations, clean the gym before events, & welcoming and meeting the new members that join. Thank you for all you do and even though you hate me for making you run, do box jumps, & tough mudder….I know deep inside you LOVE me!! LoL!

OMG so glad to see this posted! You amaze me as you figure out what you are capable of doing. So glad you are doing CF Games Open with us. So excited for your progress. Can’t wait to see what happens next (you WILL get a pullup this weekend)! Thanks for helping me feel young.

Michelle, I’m glad you’ve stuck around for as long as you have! Who else would I call late at night to discuss the Leaderboard with?? Lol. The gym would definitely not be the same without you!
